LG Energy Solution the battery unit of Korean electronics giant LG said it would produce battery cells for Tesla’s fast-growing energy-storage business at a new factory in Lansing, Mich. Those cells will eventually power utilities and artificial-intelligence data centers. “American-made cells will power Tesla’s Megapack 3 energy-storage systems produced in Houston, creating a robust domestic battery supply chain,” according to the Interior Department. Ford Motor for example, shut down a new EV battery plant in Kentucky earlier this year and plans to swap out its equipment to produce stationary batteries.
