Tesla Cybertruck lands newest frunk feature, but here’s why it’s even better
Tesla Cybertruck is evidently going to receive the newest frunk feature that the automaker rolled out to some of its other vehicles earlier this weekend, but it might be even better than the version that made its way to the others.
Yesterday, we reported that Tesla made its frunk better than ever with an extremely simple yet effective feature that activates the front trunk by just standing near it.
The hands-free frunk was a long-awaited feature that many owners requested, and it finally was introduced by Tesla with the 2024.32 Software Update.
We initially reported that it was being applied to the newest versions of the Model 3, meaning the Highland, Model S, and Model X.
However, Wes Morrill, Tesla’s lead engineer for the Cybertruck program, confirmed it is rolling out to the all-electric pickup.
Although it is an extremely useful feature on all Tesla vehicles it applies to, the Cybertruck is a different animal. The pickup’s power frunk means the hood will open completely without any human interaction, going from completely closed to entirely open without ever having to prop it up on your own:
Particularly useful on Cybertruck since the frunk is powered! Ultra-Wideband radio waves and multiple end points around the vehicle pinpoint your phone location.
Currently ~45% of the time the Frunk is opened using the exterior button. What do you think the rate will be now? https://t.co/OmV6aa0OkV— Wes (@wmorrill3) September 7, 2024
This arguably makes it more useful on the Cybertruck than any other vehicle in the Tesla lineup.
