Tesla launches Model 3/Y projection lights in the U.S. and Canada

Tesla has officially launched its under-door projection lights on web stores in the U.S. and Canada, after debuting the product in the Chinese market several months earlier.

Buyers can now purchase the projection lights for the Model 3 and Model Y on Tesla’s web store in the North American regions, offering under-door lights that spell out the word “Tesla” on the ground when the doors are opened. Currently, the projection lights aren’t available for the Cybertruck, the Model S, or the Model X.

The lights, often called “puddle projection lights,” are available for $65 in the U.S. (or $90 CAD in Canada), and purchase comes with one light each for the driver’s side and passenger’s side doors. At the time of writing, the accessory is not available in Mexico.

You can find Tesla’s puddle projection lights for the Model Y here, or for the Model 3 here. On its web page for the Model Y version, Tesla writes the following:

“Model Y Projection Lights present a high-definition Tesla wordmark onto the ground every time you open the door of your Model Y. Includes two easy-to-install projection lights suitable for the driver and passenger’s side doors.”

As Not a Tesla App points out, this is not the first time Tesla has initially launched an accessory in the Chinese market before rolling it out to the U.S. in the months to follow. Tesla did the same thing with the CaraokeMic, which it launched in the U.S. and Canada in July, after first debuting the product in China in 2022.

Tesla has a number of accessories available across its vehicle lineup, as can be seen on its global web stores. In many cases, the first-party products the OEM lacks have been created by third-party companies as aftermarket products. Other variations of puddle projection lights for Teslas have surfaced over the years, for example, though the automaker is always rolling out its own accessories to sell to consumers.
